Artlane Studio is designed for kids and teens ages 10–17.
Possibly! We sometimes make exceptions for motivated 9-year-olds who are already comfortable using a computer or iPad independently. Because our classes move at a steady pace, we don't recommend them for younger children who are completely new to technology.
If your child loves drawing but isn't ready for the computer-based classes yet, our Procreate (iPad) course is often a great place to start because it's more intuitive and easier for younger artists.
Absolutely! Our beginner courses are designed for students with little or no experience. We teach everything step by step.

For Digital Illustration, we generally do not recommend Chromebooks because they don't support the software we use very well.
For PhotoCraft Lab, some Chromebooks may work depending on the browser and assignments, but a Windows or Mac computer provides the best experience.
Yes, especially for Digital Illustration. A mouse gives much better control than a laptop trackpad when creating artwork.

Adobe programs are the professional industry standard and are used by designers around the world.
The free alternatives teach the same fundamental skills, making them an excellent option for beginners who don't want to purchase a subscription. Students can always transition to Adobe later if they choose.
